Long time racquetball player and tournament guru Greg Boland is back! Greg will be hosting and one day junior shootout at Harbor Square Athletic Club in Edmonds. This is a great venue and Greg is always a great host. There will be divisions for boys and girls from beginner to advanced players, with a pizza party to follow the competition. The tradition continues, with junior racquetball players from Washington State competing with juniors from British Columbia in a two part series for individual and team honors. The first of the two contests was held in Bellingham this year. Twenty seven juniors played in an all day Saturday shootout, with abilities ranging from multi bounce players to accomplished high school competitors. Check your calendars, because this long standing tournament has moved from February to September. September 30 – October 2, 2011 to be exact. It will once again be held at the Washington Athletic Club and the focus will be the up and coming young players on the pro tour. Jacob Allen(Everett):  Jacob fought hard for 2nd place in the Boys 10 Singles Red Division, losing in an exciting tiebreaker match against Alan Yepiz of Stockton, CA.
Zachary Allen(Everett):  Zach placed 4th in the Boys 8MB Division, with some great competition from California, Texas and Oregon.
Jake Birnel(Bellingham):  Took 3nd in Boys 14 Singles Gold Division, losing to the eventual first place winner, Spencer Shoemaker of Ohio.  Jake scored more points in their match than anyone else Shoemaker played, and he’ll be looking for a rematch next year. Jake also took 2nd …

Congratulation to all our juniors that attended WA State Singles last weekend! It was great to see all of you there and, and the adults loved watching you!

Almost 25 years has separated these two, but in January of 2011 Glenn Carlson and Russ Mannino came together at The Cactus Salon Pro Stop in New York City to help support junior racquetball.  Now they have put together a scholarship opportunity for junior players to learn from the best. Team Washington Wins! A group of our juniors played in the annual Racquets Without Borders tournament
against Team British Columbia on Nov. 6. The Washington players were victorious, with
WA scoring 69 team points to Canada’s 55 points. Congratulations to all our juniors.

Don and Rowena Birnel will be sending their three boys to California in mid November to participate in Junior Worlds at the Spectrum Club. Jake will be participating as part of the 12 year old three man team, and his younger brothers Jordan and Nick will be competing in the friendship divisions of Boys 10 year old and Boys 8 year old. Part I is now in the books, and the Washington Junior players hold a 1 point in the lead for the perpetual trophy!
