Washington State Doubles Championship had 100 players playing for the state doubles title.  Jeff Stark and Lon Bergstrom won the Mens Doubles Championship.  Jeff also won the Mens 35+ Doubles with Mike Akerman.  David Morton and Bill Cumming won the Mens A Doubles, Bill Spencer and Kenny Brown won the Mens B/C Doubles, while Grace Hughes and Jessica Munoz not only won the Mens Elite Doubles but the Womens Open Doubles.  Lori Turley and Rowena Birnel won the Womens Elite Doubles.  Billy Johnson and Jeannie Buntjet won the Mixed Opens …

Bellingham Athletic Club was host to the 10th Annual Racquets Without Borders Junior Tournament on Saturday, Oct 27. This is a two part competition with Team British Columbia vying with Team Washington for individual awards as well as the perpetual team trophy. Washington currently holds the trophy from last year’s win. At the end of the day, Team Washington was leading with a slim margin of 36 points to 34 points. The Wilson Hope Racquetball Tournament was a great success for the local Bellingham Cancer Center! Olivia Nicholes and Wanda Collins put together a fundraiser that netted a little over $900 for the new center. Thanks go out to Lori and Keith Turley for their volunteer time to help run the desk and record scores. And a big thanks to Wilson Racquetball for donating a lot of great door prizes that were given out during the event.

The Everett YMCA hosted one of the two Membership Renewal tournaments on September 14th – 16th. This was the second year this tournament was hosted in Everett, and this year it drew 35 players. The event was very relaxed, owing largely to the hour long match time slots, the comfortable start and end times during each day, and the self-reffed matches. This was a no-frills event, meaning no meals were provided and there was no souvenir for the participants. There were peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, muffins, bananas, and trail mix …

Six junior players made the trip to Fullerton, California for Junior Nationals at the Meridian Club, also the site of Adult Nationals last month. These six were stellar in their performances and we are proud of them!

From Spokane, Josh Gibson played in Boys 14′s as well as Boys 14 Doubles with Evan Wargo, a new partner. Josh played some great racquetball, and took home second in the Red Division of singles and played some amazing tiebreakers! He and Wargo also placed second in the Consolation round …

Big thanks to everyone who participated in the Rollout for Cystic Fibrosis. An excellent time was had by all, but most importantly, over $5,000 was raised for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.
