Hi Everyone! There is quite a bit of Junior News!
We had 4 juniors travel to Iowa to compete in Junior Nationals this year! Ashlyn Carver, Hannah Carver, Megan Carver and Micah Miller all represented Washington Racquetball. Check out their matches at the 2018 National Junior Olympic Championships tournament page
If anyone has “stand up” type trophies from past tournaments that they would like to donate to the Junior Committee, we would love to clean them up and present them to juniors at our upcoming tournaments. Just keep your plate from the trophy and you’ll remember your victories while watching a junior really enjoy getting a trophy in the future.
EQUIPMENT AVAILABLE FOR JUNIORS!
The Junior Committee has received a generous donation of racquets, eyewear and gloves from the Pat Lew Estate through Bill Dodge! If you teach juniors and need equipment for your lessons, let us know! If you know of a junior player who loves the game and is playing on a regular basis, we have new racquets and eyewear to give them their start!
If you have an abundance of air miles and would like to share some with a junior player to assist them in their wish to head to a major tournament, be sure and let us know.
The WRA Junior Committee will be collecting items for raffle baskets in the upcoming season. We like to fill these baskets with all sorts of goodies: racquetball and sports gear, lodging at resorts, jewelry, wine and wine glasses, clothing, household items, tickets to theater and sporting events, artwork, etc. If you have something to donate that would make the basket irresistible to bidders, contact us! We’d be glad to find a way to gather the items up and raise money to pay for junior entry fees and travel expenses to tournaments.
Does your club have someone teaching junior lessons? Would you like to start a junior lesson program at your facility? Summer is a good time to introduce juniors to our sport when they are out of school and have the time. We can help you with lesson outline information, contacting teaching pros in your vicinity, and meeting with club managers.
We also have someone on our WRA board interested in starting a High School Club Sport program in Washington. Help us to grow our sport!
