Washington state had four players at Junior Worlds in Tempe, Arizona competing for honors December 17-20, 2008. Congratulations to all of you. We are proud to have you representing us!

Jake Birnel competed in the esprit division of 10 and under singles and doubles after qualifying by placing first at Junior Nationals last June in both divisions. At worlds, He placed 2nd in the Red Division, losing to Christian Longoria of Mexico. Christian and his partner beat Jake and and Ryan Francis in the quarters of Boys 10 and under doubles.

Jordon Birnel lost in the 8 and under category to the eventual winner of the division in the quarters. He also competed in the 8 and under multi bounce and went all the way to the semi finals before losing to some tough competition.

Nick Birnel competed in the 8 and under multi bounce and 6 and under multi bounce. In 6 and under MB, Nick took second place, winning his way to the finals before losing to Antonio Rojas of California.

Jessica Munoz of Burlington competed for her home country of Columbia, winning four matches and losing only one to Nawoo Kim of Korea for a 2nd place finish in the Girls 18’s friendship division. In the 16’s, Jessica lost in the quarter finals to eventual first place winner Danielle Key of Arizona.
