Saturday, October 23rd, we had a one-day shootout at the Everett YMCA. This was, by far, our most successful tournament we’ve had yet! We ended up with a total of 43 players, and drew players from all over the puget sound! Our draw included 6 women ranging in skill from D to Elite, and we also had four players who are ranked in the top 25 in the state! We had 6 Open level players, 6 Elite players, 14 A players, 13 B players, and 12 C/D players. The competition in all of the divisions was pretty tough, but everyone had a great time!
In the Men’s Open Division, Brad Jackson defended his seeding and took first place, followed by Allan Lawson who placed second and Jorge Carlos Thomas who placed third.
In Men’s Elite, Jorge Carlos Thomas placed first, followed by James Shepard in second place and Carlos Scott who placed third.
In Men’s A, Jeff Micheals defeated Carlos Scott in a tough match to make into the playoff from pool group 1, Jesus Villahermosa narrowly defeated William Lewis and Patric Reichmann to make it to the playoff from pool group 2, and Kyle Warren defeated Ty Sauve in a close match to make into the playoff from pool group 3. In the playoff round, Jeff Micheals placed first, Jesus Villahermosa placed second, and Kyle Warren placed third.
In Men’s B, Marvin Goodall defeated Ryan Matthews in three games to make it into the playoff from pool group 1, Jason Linton defeated Alyssa Boland in two tight games to make it into the playoff from pool group 2, and Ken Morris defeated newcomer Billy Pruncho in two games to take the playoff spot for pool group 3. In the playoffs Ken Morris placed first, Jason Linton placed second, and Marvin Goodall placed third.
In Men’s C/D, Ken Dausman defeated Carina Keen in two games to make it into the playoff from pool group 1, Jason Linton defeated Johnathan Skoczen in two games to make it into the playoff from pool group 2, and Danen Barnhart defeated Rollie Baily in to games to make it into the playoff from pool group 3. In the playoffs Jason Linton took first, Ken Dausman took second, and Danen Barnhart took third.
In Men’s 35+ B, Billy Pruncho took first place, Pete Sagasi came in second, and Mike Van Cleave came in third.
I’d like to say a very special thank you to the Everett YMCA, who was a great host for this event and really did a lot to support the event and resolve a few minor issues that came up during the day. It is such a pleasure to have a facility so supportive of racquetball in the Everett area!
