Women’s Racquetball March 2010 Newletter

2 March 2010 No Comment

Hey ladies. Welcome to the many ladies receiving this for the first time. We are VERY excited to have you participating in Women’s Racquetball!!

I will be honest, most of this is cut and pasted from last month, but with deadlines looming, I needed to get something out ASAP! There is A LOT going on during the next few months for Women’ Racquetball. Take a quick read and see if anything is of interest to you!!

Congrats to all the women that participated in the Seattle Open Tournament. You can see the results here:http: //www.r2sports.com/tourney/viewResults.asp?TID=6319&fromPage=site

The next Sanctioned Tournament is the NW Open- Bham, March 12th-14th. This has great draws for the ladies!! The deadline is TOMORROW, so contact Wanda immediately if you would like to play. If you want more info or would like to sign up online, here is the link: http://www.r2sports.com/tourney/home.asp?TID=6320
Also, Wanda works hard to raise money for our Junior Program here in Washington. She will be doing a Silent Auction at the tournament. If you have something you could donate, whether racquetball related or not, please contact her at:collins-family@comcast.net

POKER NIGHT!!
One of our biggest Fundraisers this season will be a Poker Night this Saturday in Redmond. I’m attending, and have absolutely NO IDEA how to play Texas Holdem’!! Please read below for details, grab a friend (guy or girl) and come join in the fun. Thank you to the 17 people already signed up. Please spread the word to the guys on this. They LOVE poker! WE COULD USE ABOUT 4 MORE PLAYERS!!

One of the big events we are doing this season to raise money for the WPRO event in the Fall is a Poker Night. The Date is Saturday, March 6th, 6pm, in Redmond (Karen Jaskolka’s house). Here is what you need to know:
This is going to be a BLAST!!
This is for ANYONE (you don’t have to be a girl, or a racquetball player–me and my hubby are making a date of it)
We will have GREAT food!!
The buy in is $40.
We can only accept 30 people (unless we change venues)
You MUST RSVP for this event by FEBRUARY 25th (the sooner the better)
You won’t want to miss this!
RSVP’s for this event are going to Karen: Karen.Jaskolka@microsoft.com

Next Play Day: The next play day will be offered Saturday, April 10th from 10-3pm at the Olympia Bally Total Fitness. For those of you who haven’t attended one, these are a TON of fun and super easy going. There is no cost, though we encourage people to donate $5-$10 to our WPRO fundraiser (no donations accepted from first time attendees…we just want you!!). Bring a snack to share, and a friend! No experience is necessary and we generally have extra racquets to lend out. I will be heading this one up. ***I will be hosting a 30 minute FREE Beginner’s Clinic from 9:15-9:45 if there is interest**

Angela is also hosting a Play Day in Yakima at the Athletic Club to better include some of the women playing ball in Eastern Washington. There are many girls playing over there and they need our support. That play day is April 24th, from noon-5pm. Can you say road trip!?! At least 8 women have already committed to heading over. If you would like to attend, but need to join the carpool, please contact Angela directly at: angela31372@aol.com

FEEL FREE TO LOAD UP A ZIPLOCK BAG OF CHANGE TO BRING FOR THE WRPO FUNDRAISING TOO!
WE WILL HAVE ALL SIZES OF HOODIES AND SHIRTS FOR SALE AS WELL.

Looking ahead: The next Sanctioned Tournament after Bellingham is the Washington State Singles Championships in Bellevue, WA. March 26th-28th. There are always ladies draws as the women across the state come to see who will walk away with a state title! This tournament is in a nice, central location at an amazing club. You can get more info and sign up online here: http://www.r2sports.com/tourney/home.asp?TID=6321

A few of you have asked me if there is any easy way to send a few bucks towards the WPRO Fundraising efforts. I have set up a PAYPAL account specifically for this event. If you click on the link below, it will take you where you need to go to send a little funding into our Racquetball account. Thanks for the $120 dollars that has already been sent!

If there is anything in the this email you need more information about, please let us know. There are lots of opportunities to get out and involved right now. Don’t pass them by! For those of you who are newer to Racquetball, I know some of this might seem like a different language. Please send me a note with any questions you have.

We are VERY lucky to have the Women’s Program we do here in Washington. We are the envy of many other states. Don’t take it for granted! Come participate in something!! We want you!!
